Swiss National Day
August 1
Updated on 4/06/2026
The sausages have been ordered, the bonfire will be built, and ready to be lit! That means it’s time again for the Swiss National Day Celebration! We hope you can join us for this spectacular event for all the family to enjoy. Good fun for all ages, we always have a great mix of young and old. Guests are also welcome and can even become members on the night and enjoy this great event for free, as well as free or discounted entry to our other events throughout the year.

When: Saturday 1 August 2026, gates are open from 4 – 5 pm (please don’t arrive late as we will close the gates).
Where: 86 Keirs Road, Murrumbateman NSW
Cost: Free for all Swiss Club members. Guests can join in by becoming ordinary or associate members on the night.
Bring: Your favourite dessert for the dessert table, warm clothes including a coat, a beanie and gloves (it gets very cold, so rug up!), shoes you don’t mind getting a bit muddy, mugs/cups (bring two, one for cordial or Glühwein and one for soup), torches and your lampions.
Call for volunteers: Help is always very much appreciated. If anyone can come early, stay late or help during the evening please contact a committee member, any help means we too can enjoy the celebrations.
Bring your lampions (lanterns) or borrow ours. The lampion tradition in Switzerland involves children (as well as adults) making and carrying lanterns, especially for Swiss National Day celebrations. If you want to make your own, check out the Mission August 1st website.
Remember to look after your own safety and that of others. There will be open fires (modern synthetic puffer style jackets don’t like embers), hot food and drinks, and it will be a cold and dark night. The Club does not accept any responsibility for any damage, injury, or loss sustained in relation to this event.
